I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters came face-to-face to promote the upcoming boxing match.

Former two-time unified title holder Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive disparity - at Miami venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Mindset

"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

Despite these statements, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - normally famous for his showmanship - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead attacked ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

However, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, frequently receiving huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference evident, it emphasized just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the bout is actually happening.
